3 The Beginning of an Alphabet The beginning of an Alphabet
The Greek Alphabet was first introduced to the Greeks by a Phoenician named Cadmus. The Greek Alphabet is a re-mix of the Phoenician Alphabet and that took place in the late 8th century B.C. in Greece. The Greeks took the letters because they needed a common language to speak.

4 Fraternities & Sororities
Fraternities and Sororities used the Greek Alphabet because they needed names but they didn’t want to use the Roman Numerals because lots of organizations had already used them and the fraternities and sororities wanted to be different than other organizations.
