The 1950s witnessed the birth of a new means of mass media. (1)___ broadcasts began in 1949 but it was the 1950s that became known as the Golden Age of television. While millions of Americans enjoyed the shows on TV many attacked it for enforcing stereotypes and for only portraying (2)_____ America.
