2. Why a Workshop on HD FE?
Fuel Efficiency (FE) is one of the most relevant topics related to the regulatory activity of the automotive sector.
Rulemaking activity in last years has been intensive in all regions of the world.
EU, US, Japan, China and others completed their own legislations on FE, with rules different among each area.
Evolutions of local rules are on going in almost all the above areas, but until now no activity for FE harmonization is yet started among the governments.
OICA is interested in launching a discussion between all stakeholders, aimed to verify if there is room for harmonization, before it’s too late.
Therefore, OICA proposed, during the GRPE in June 2018, to hold a Workshop on HD FE Harmonization.

3. Aim of Workshop
OICA is interested in having an exchange of views between all stakeholders on concrete possibilities for launching an harmonization activity on FE HD.
Our intention is to explore possible solutions (if any) starting from a preliminary analysis we performed.
The outcome of this workshop will be reported to GRPE, as a starting point for a larger discussion in the plenary session, that could lead to next steps, depending on the interest showed by the stakeholders.
