Welcome Your attendance tonight is appreciated.
Purpose to explain and demystify, set goals and move ahead. QCE, OP and QCS.
10
Who gets what? QCE is for everybody, expected by the end of Year 12 (100% Target) OP (group = 40%) is for University entry Vocational (60%) is for work/training

17
Bottom Line!! Must have a least a Sound Achievement ( C) level – pass for credits Other learning can count! (Your HOSS can help support you with pathways questions) All timetables support QCE achievement
18
WHAT IS AN OP? Only used for University entry
A number between 1-25 issued at the end of Year 12 to students who are OP eligible. OP eligible means they have studied a minimum of 20 semesters of OP subjects (usually 5 out of 6) over 2 years AND sat the Queensland Core Skills test. (QCS).
19
HOW IS THE OP CALCULATED?
A combination of Student final grades in their OP subjects and then Scaled against subject scores on the QCS test and then Scaled against the overall average grade for our school on the QCS test compared with the average grade for the state. School MUST have a good result on the QCS test to improve OPs.
20
Rank Orders Mostly important for OP students, less so for “QCE only” students. Produced every semester by Faculties. Shows the relative distribution of student achievement. Students must check and understand. Teacher feedback provided.
21
Issuing Indicative OPs
School issues these several times over 2 years of senior. Sophisticated calculation, not final prediction. Powerful data, students clamour for this feedback. Assists in decisions for QTAC and the general direction. We get this 100% accurate each year.
22
WHY QCS? We have a QCS information night in Term 2
QCS is about the COHORT – all students need to achieve well Students must treat QCP as their 7th subject
23
WHEN IS IT ON? 2019 Date Test paper TUESDAY 3rd September
Morning: Writing Task (2 hours) Afternoon: Multiple Choice I (1 hour 30 minutes) WEDNESDAY 4th September Morning: Short Response (2 hours) Afternoon: Multiple Choice II (1 hour 30 minutes)
24
FACT The highest OP attained by a student who only achieved Cs across all 6 subjects was 14. CONCLUSION A passing culture is not good enough among the OP cohort. The standard for every student who is OP eligible must be B. You are being compared to all OP eligible students in the State
