7 Identify and Describe AAA – Agricultural adjustment administration – paid farmers not to grow certain crops TVA – Tennessee Valley Authority - Built dams to provide cheap electric power to seven southern states; set up schools and health centers.

8 FDIC- Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation – Insured savings accounts in banks approved by government Social Security – Set up a system of pensions for elderly, unemployed, and handicapped. CCC – Civilian Conservation Corp – provided jobs to young men to plant trees, build bridges and parks, and set up flood control projects.

9 WPA- Works Progress Administration – employed men and women to build hospitals, schools, parks and airports: employed artists, writers, and musicians Bank holiday – FDR closed the nation’s banks by declaring a bank holiday in order to stop the collapse of the national banking system. Wagner Act – guaranteed labor the right to form unions and to practice collective bargaining. Also known as National Labor Relations Act.

10 Packing the Court Plan FDR wanted to increase the number of judges from nine to fifteen if the judges refused to retire at the age of 70.
