Atomic Structure Game Jr.
Starting the Game: • Deal out the 16 element cards evenly among players. Set aside any that are left over. • Start with a hydrogen atom: one proton in the nucleus (green marble) and 1 electron (black marble) in the innermost shell.
2
Atomic Structure Game Jr.
Playing the turns: • Roll a single 6-sided die. • Check a periodic table to see if an atom exists with an atomic MASS equal to the die roll added to the existing element. Example: If you have hydrogen on the board (atomic mass 1) and roll a 6, you can make lithium, which has an atomic mass of = 7. If you roll a 5 you lose your turn.

Atomic Structure Game Jr.
Scoring: IF AND ONLY IF you were able to make a legitimate element … • Build the atom by adding the correct number of neutrons (clear), protons (green) and electrons (black) for that element. • The player who rolled the die only scores points for any VALENCE electrons added. • The player with the element card for that element also receives 3 points and turns in the card. • BONUS POINTS: You get 10 bonus points if you exactly fill a valence electron shell to make a Noble gas.

Atomic Structure Game Jr.
End of Game: • The game ends when a player reaches Argon. The die roll must be exact.
