5 Position vs. Time Graphs
Motion graphs are an important tool used to show relationships between variables like position, velocity, acceleration, and time.

6 Slope can be used to calculate velocity.
The slope of a line is sometimes called “rise over run.” We calculate the slope with the equation.

The steeper line has larger velocity A straight line means constant velocity

10 Is velocity the same as speed?
Velocity and speed are similar, but there is an important difference… Velocity is speed with direction.

11 Average vs. Instantaneous velocity
Average velocity – velocity across some amount of time. Instantaneous velocity – velocity at one INSTANT.

Ex: You drive to school at 30 mph for the first five minutes, and 40 mph for the last five minutes. Instantaneous velocity in minute 3 = … 30 mph Average velocity for the whole trip = … 35 mph
