2 Enterprises are moving aggressively to cloud.
Massive shifts in business and technology are disrupting economies and societies—how we live our lives. Enterprises are moving aggressively to cloud. 68% of tech leaders say migration to cloud is their top action for modernizing their app portfolio. Enterprises must secure their data. 68% of businesses lack the ability to remain resilient in the wake of a cyber attack. Enterprises are digitizing everything. 72% of businesses believe they are susceptible to digital disruption in the next 3 years. Only 14% believe they can act quickly enough. Enterprises are investing in AI. 81% of IT leaders are already investing in or planning to invest in AI. We all know that the market and technology are shifting. Value not in infrastructure, but rather in the data, security and use of the data. If you look at this chart, there are basically two themes – cloud and data.

3 Enterprise Cloud Adoption
Cloud Private Storage Enterprise adoption of cloud is not private vs public, or on-premises vs hosted. Companies are doing combinations of all of the above. A hybrid, multiloud world. In fact, 94% of enterprises today have multiple clouds – mixing public, private, dedicated and countless SaaS applications, and that trend will continue, with rapid growth in all three flavors of cloud through at least All while continuing to make significant investments in traditional IT. This presents some new challenges and concerns for IT leaders, that must operate and maintain business as usual, even with more complex, hybrid and multicloud environments. 82% are concerned about how they will connect all of these clouds, and traditional IT. 73% need better ways to move apps, workloads and data between these clouds more effectively. 67% worry about how they will manage this new mix of cloud and environments in a consistent way, across vendors, without introducing new security and compliance risks. Even for those looking to aggressively move more to the cloud today, it will be a journey. 6 Cloud Private Storage The journey to the cloud from traditional IT has multiple entry points and drivers for cloud adoption To further complicated matters, enterprises come to cloud through many different entry points. Even the same company can enter into the cloud journey from multiple places.

7 Consistency across hybrid cloud deployment models

IBM Cloud Private Storage is an as-a-service offering in a hosted, dedicated storage cloud. Tailored solution for your journey to Cloud Boost business agility Gain peace of mind Multiple highly scalable Data Tiers are available in both private storage cloud and dedicated storage cloud models that allow you to run both private and public workloads on IBM Cloud. Pay-per-use operating expense model empowers you to support business unit strategy with financially flexible storage IT. Fully managed, trusted, dedicated offering helps you reduce IT expenses and data security issues without having to manage it. To help our customers address these challenges IBM Services has introduced a new offering called IBM Cloud Private Storage, CPS is a standard list price, fully managed storage offering. First, this offering provides Improved business agility: Pay per use and OPEX model give control to the financial side of the organization or CFO. This gives them a predictable storage expense including 79% lower in the first year compared to a traditional capex expense As storage needs grow clients can scale up to use more storage, but with a known storage expense that can be supported by financial team planning Better peace of mind: IBM-managed private cloud environment gives CIOs confidence in their data security and availability without needing to own the storage. IBM GTS manages over 900 PB of storage today under custom or outsourcing agreements. WE take care of managing the storage industry’s technology transformation. Tailored solution for your data: Third, we have the capability of tailoring our offering to the client’s data by the use of multiple data tiers for block and file storage. Unlike other competitors this is not a one size fits all approach, so we can meet a broad range of a client’s performance and data efficiency needs. 79 percent lower cost in year one* >1 EB storage under management* 60+ IBM Cloud data centers WW *The performance data discussed herein is presented as derived under specific operating conditions. IBM Cloud Object Storage Dedicated Workloads Workloads Direct Link Dedicated Hosting In our next release, Cloud Private Storage will offer dedicated cloud storage. This allows our clients to realize the operational benefits of running workloads on public cloud, but with the security of dedicated storage. We’ll start our dedicated cloud storage options with a Direct Link option to IBM Public Cloud and Dedicated IBM Cloud Object Storage. *NEW * Dedicated Cloud Storage Private Cloud Storage Public Cloud Storage © Copyright IBM Corporation 2016

15 IBM Cloud Private Storage for IBM Cloud Dedicated Cloud Object Storage
IBM managed dedicated object storage service on IBM Cloud. Enables native object workloads such as big data analytics, AI, and machine learning Single-tenant infrastructure provides compliance and security even in a cloud based deployment Data at Scale performance and reliability with multi-region and multi-site protection for Now available as a data tier new in IBM Cloud Private Storage IBM Cloud Object Storage Dedicated Workloads Key Takeaway: IBM Cloud Object Storage has the most flexible choices of any cloud based solution in the market today. Regardless whether your workload is for active data or archive data, IBM Cloud Object Storage offers clients choice and flexibility of deployment options Speaking Notes: IBM Cloud Object Storage is ideal for active workloads where data is frequently accessed (called Standard) and more archive workloads where data is written and less frequently accessed (called Vault). There are many examples of active (Standard) cloud workloads including Cognitive, Analytics, Mobile Data Store, Web App Content, Enterprise Collaboration, and DevOps. There are also many examples of colder data (Vault) workloads including Archive, Backup, Data Retention for Compliance and Business Continuity. The bottom line is that IBM offers clients choice based on their workload to meet specific requirements for performance and cost. In addition, only IBM offers a Dedicated option for clients that need a single tenant option in a cloud based deployment model for compliance workloads or other workloads that require dedicated levels of performance. Clients can leverage the Dedicated model and manage it themselves for total control or have IBM manage the system for a pure managed service. Finally, only IBM offers a truly Hybrid configuration where parts of a clients data can reside on-prem and other parts can reside in the cloud. Today, this is a single tenant model and leverages the IBM Cloud Object Storage solution for geo-dispersing data across multiple sites. In the future, this offering will also leverage the public, multitenant offerings for ultimate flexibility for clients. Only IBM offers this level of flexibility and choice for clients and all at very competitive price points. IBM Public Cloud

20 What’s in a Name? Not to be confused with: IBM Cloud (was Softlayer)
We are not public cloud, our solution is a private solution IBM Cloud Private Use of containers micro-services – We work with this but it is not us. IBM Cloud Object Storage We are block and file storage, not object We are looking to include Object Storage in a future release IBM Cloud Private Storage – Dedicated On prem Storage as a Service!! That’s us!! I’d like to pause for a minute here and talk about our name.
