1 Key Instant Recall Facts
KIRFs

2 KIRFs These are the key facts which children need to learn by heart.
They provide a solid foundation for all other Maths learning in primary school The ability to recall these facts quickly and accurately will help your child significantly.

3 Years 1 & 2 Children will practise KIRF targets in school every week throughout the term, as part of their Maths lesson. The aim is for them to recall these facts instantly. The KIRFs will also be sent home as part of your child’s home-learning each week. Approx. 20 mins per week; ideally, takes place for a short amount of time over several days.

4 Years 1& 2 continued There will be a tick/record sheet to fill in to show when the target has been practised at home. The class teacher will carry out assessments throughout the term and record when the target when it has been achieved. There is also an attached list of optional extension work to complete if your child requires additional challenge.

5 All the KIRF targets will have clear examples for parents to follow
They will also suggest resources to support the learning. These will include: Free computer games which can be accessed at home Games / activities Additional work sheets TT Rock Stars

6 Year 3 Year 3 children will also practise KIRF targets in school every week throughout the term, as part of their Maths lesson. KIRFs will be sent home to practise and to inform parents and carers what is being learned in school. The KIRF targets will be assessed in a test at the end of term. Y3 children will have times-tables to learn and will move onto a new table when they are secure. TT Rock Stars

7 Year 4 and 5 Children will have times tables to learn each week and a weekly times tables test. Children will also receive Maths homework each week. TT Rock Stars

8 Year 6 Daily Maths Ninja Children will receive weekly maths homework
Additional homework leading up to SATs Weekly Maths Club starting Monday 4 March Times tables will be given if necessary
