5. Hyperbole

6. Understatement
Understatement is a form of speech which contains an expression of less strength than what would be expected.
“It’s just a flesh wound!”

7. Paradox and Oxymoron
A paradox is a statement or group of statements that leads to a contradiction or a situation which defies logic.
“Cowards die many times before their deaths.”
“The child is the father of man.”
An oxymoron is a mini paradox – two words that contradict one another
The silence was deafening
“Parting is such sweet sorrow”
“O heavy lightness!”

A parody is a work created to mock, comment on, or poke fun at an original work, its subject, author, style, or some other target, by means of humorous imitation.
AKA spoofs or lampoons
Scary Movie, Saturday Night Live
A caricature is a description of a person using exaggeration of some characteristics and oversimplification of others.

10. Mock Heroic
A mock heroic is a satire or parody that mocks common Classical stereotypes of heroes and heroic literature.
Typically, mock-heroic works invert the heroic work by either putting a fool in the role of the hero or by exaggerating the heroic qualities to such a point that they become absurd.

Bathos is the expression of humor in a phrase, though done through the use of an incongruous or ironic combination of ideas in order to deliberately make the humorous aspect seem unintended.
