How successfully does Stevenson arouse the readers curiosity in this chapter? How does Stevenson develop Lanyon’s character in this chapter? Dr Jekyll enters a new phase of life at the beginning of the chapter: what does he do that was different to before? Jekyll refuses to see Utterson- why do you think this is? How has Lanyon changed when Utterson visits him? Evaluate Analyse Comprehension

If I am the chief of sinners, I am the chief of sufferers also.’ Find a quote to show: Tricky: Dr Lanyon and Dr Jekyll no longer speak but we do not know why. Trickier: Dr Lanyon has completely changed since we first met him (find a quote on from Chapter 2 and Chapter 6) Trickiest: Utterson believes that Sir Danvers’ death is less important than Hyde being gone and explain the key vocabulary.
