1 Awareness program on ISO/TS16949:2002
Technical Specification

2 ISO/TS 16949:2002 It is an ISO Technical specification, aligns existing American (QS-9000), German (VDA6.1), French (EAQF) and Italian (AVSQ) automotive quality systems standards within the global automotive industry to eliminate various certifications for different customers.

3 ISO 9001 and ISO/TS 16949 Together with ISO 9001:2000, ISO/TS 16949:2002 specifies the quality system requirements for the design/development, production, installation and servicing of automotive related products. In addition, there are customer specific requirements that are required by individual subscribing vehicle manufacturers.

4 ISO/TS 16949:2002 Was framed by International Automotive Task Force (IATF) & Japan Automobile Manufacturers Association (JAMA).

5 QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER
ISO/TS 16949:2002 Questions. Auditors will ask ABC Employees during an Audit 1. Who is ABC’s Quality Management Representative (QMR)? QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER 2. Who is ABC’s Customer Satisfaction Representative (CSR)? SUPPLY CHAIN DIRECTOR

6 1.What is the purpose of an audit?:
The purpose of an audit is to find out how effective the ABC Quality Management System (QMS) and its Processes are working. The Auditors “Test the System”. You are the process expert and you can help the Auditors understand how your process works.

7 2.What do the Auditors verify?:
Are the processes documented? Are the processes implemented? Do people know and understand the process? Do people comply with process requirements? Are the processes effective? Are the processes continually improving?

8 3.What is expected of the Employees?:
Know your process requirements Know exactly what to do and how Understand your role in the QMS Help correct process and product problems Help improve the process and the product Know and understand the Quality Policy and Objectives Ask, if you’re not sure……….

9 4.How do you prepare for an Audit?:
Know and follow all your process and product requirements Be able to show the appropriate documents that apply to your job Check your process and work area Clean, well-organized, all product identified, calibrations up-to-date, all checks/inspections completed, all “paper work” correctly filled-out Anything you don’t know? ASK!!!! Be prepared to answer the Auditor’s questions

10 5.Auditor questions for ABC personnel.
When you start up a new job, what do you do? How do you check your work? How often do you check your work? Do you record the inspection results? Where is this process written down? Can you show me? What do you do when you find something wrong? What does your company’s quality policy mean to you?

11 5.Auditor questions for ABC personnel.
What are the objectives for your process? How are these objectives measured? Can you show me? What happens if you find something wrong? How do you know that your measuring tool is calibrated? What happens if you’re not here? How are you involved with correcting problems? How are you involved with improving your process?

12 6.How to answer the Auditor’s questions………
Be polite and honest. Answer only the questions that are asked. Do not volunteer information if you are not asked about something. Never lie!! Answer directly and with confidence. It’s OK to ask the auditor for clarification of a question if you don't understand what you were asked. It’s OK to say: “I don’t know”. Or “That’s not my responsibility”. But be prepared to say who is.

13 Remember, the Auditors are not out “to get you”.
They are only TESTING the quality system and its processes. You help the Auditor understand how your process works. That’s all!

14 Time for Questions?
