Module 9 Exercise 2 Preparing to Draft a Connectivity Conservation Law Connectivity – Legal Issues

2 Background Purpose Structure
Encourage Learners to read and analyse laws that govern connectivity conservation. Provide Learners with an opportunity to apply what they have learned about connectivity conservation. Structure Introduction to exercise (suggested time allocation, 5 minutes) Group work (suggested time allocation, 60 minutes) Joint class discussion (suggested time allocation, 55 minutes) NOTES FOR EDUCATOR Briefly explain the purpose of the exercise. Briefly explain the structure of the exercise.

3 The Exercise The Government has decided to develop a law on connectivity conservation. You are groups of consultants who have been tasked with making proposals for the basic contents of the proposed law. Develop an annotated outline of the content of the proposed law. NOTES FOR EDUCATOR Distribute to each Learner: A copy of Annexure A – Generic Connectivity Law 1 A copy of Annexure B – Generic Connectivity Law 2 Paper. The paper may be any size that is appropriate for the facilities available at the venue of the course and the number of Learners.

4 Joint Group Discussion
Each group will briefly explain its annotated outline. The groups will engage each other with a view to improving each others’ understandings of what a law governing connectivity conservation requires. NOTES FOR EDUCATOR Ask each group in turn to explain its annotated outline of the proposed law. Display each group’s outline, as the group’s spokesperson explains it, in whatever way is appropriate for the facilities available at the venue of the course and the number of Learners.
