1 Communicating my ideas about Volcanoes
By Eddie Choi

2 Definition of Volcanoes
What are volcanoes? Volcanoes are places where magma that was in the ground becomes lava and erupts.

3 What are 3 common types of volcanoes?
Composite volcano Cinder cone volcano Shield volcano

4 Explain how each type of volcano forms
1. Cinder cone volcano Are formed by powerful eruption. Therefore, they have large crater. 2. Composite volcano Are formed over hundreds of thousands of years through multiple eruptions such as ash, rock and pyroclastic flows. 3. Shield volcano Are formed by lava flows of low viscosity. #1 #2 #3

5 What are active, dormant and extinct volcanoes?
Active Volcanoes: is a volcano that has had at least one eruption during the past 10,000 years. Dormant Volcanoes: is an active volcano that is not erupting, but supposed to erupt again. Extinct Volcanoes: the volcano that has not had an eruption for at least 10,000 years and is not expected to erupt again in a comparable time scale of the future.

6 What are pyroclastic material, pyroclastic flow and Lahars?
Lahars : violent type of mudflows composed of pyroclastic material, rocky debris and water. Pyroclastic material: is another name for a cloud of ash, lava Pyroclastic flow: a fast moving current of hot gas and volcanic matter that moves away from a volcano

7 Lava vs Magma Lava Magma
Lava is magma that reaches the surface of our planet through a volcano vent. Magma is composed of molten rock and is stored in the Earth's crust.

8 Where can you find volcanoes?
Active volcanoes, Plate Tectonics, and the “Ring of Fire”

9 Why is understanding volcanoes important?
Understanding volcanoes is help to know how Earth works. Predicting the areas that which area occurred eruption of volcano, earthquake so that people can prevent for making shelter and other methods.
