SIXTH GRADE McCulloch Intermediate School Class of 2025

2 CLASSES and HOUSES Classes are 70 minutes long
Advisory is 35 minutes long Students will be assigned to one of five houses Sixth grade houses are: Baxter Johnstone Buchanan Brodie Dunbar

3 ACTIVITIES D.A.R.E. Student Leadership Club (SLC) Assemblies
Author Research Project Concerts Lunch is at 12:00 each day

4 ELECTIVES Art Connection Band Choir Creativity/Theater Strings
Students choose ONE elective for the entire year!

5 CORE CLASSES Language Arts 6 and Language Arts 6 TAG
Math 6, Math 6/7 and Math 6/7 TAG Science 6 and Science 6 TAG Social Studies 6 and Social Studies 6 TAG Physical Education

6 BAND This class is open to everyone in 6th grade regardless of musical background, and gives each student the opportunity to master the basic skills of playing musical instruments in the Brass and Woodwind family. Members will perform at numerous concerts and contests in preparation for participation in the great Raider Bands, as well as playing with the Highlander Band at HPHS. Band will meet 30 minutes each day and you will have P.E. 30 minutes each day. ‘Meet the Instruments’ will be held this Saturday, April 21st from 10am-12pm or 1pm-3pm at HPHS.

7 STRINGS ORCHESTRA Enrollment at the 6th grade level is open
to all students. This course is designed to introduce and/or reinforce the fundamentals of string playing. Previous experience with string instruments is desired, but not required. Strings will meet 30 minutes each day and you will have P. E .30 minutes each day.

8 CHOIR This is an exciting class where 6th graders learn the fundamentals of singing, sight-reading, and music basics! Choir will provide experiences to develop poise, self-confidence and skills to assist in music reading, rhythmic notations and performance. This class will perform at NorthPark in December, perform at the Highlander Festival in the Spring, and take a trip to Sandy Lake Amusement Park in May. Choir follows the A/B day schedule alternating with PE.

9 ART CONNECTION This class is designed to meet the needs of “budding” young artists. This art class incorporates the elements of art with a variety of media! Projects will focus on drawing, painting, and sculpture. Art Connection follows the A/B day schedule alternating with P.E.

10 CREATIVITY/THEATER Each of these courses is one semester in length.
Creativity is a challenging and fun class that explores a range of different skills while using imagination and critical thinking! Creative projects include making a stop-motion-film and building a volcano. Theater students will perform short plays in class throughout the semester and present a performance at the end of the course. This class meets on A/B day schedule alternating with PE.

11 Each student will receive a choice sheet during Advisory class on
FRIDAY, APRIL 20TH! Choice Sheets are due Thursday, April 26th, so that you can enter your elective choice during your Advisory class on APRIL 26th and 27th.
