4 Regulation - Mechanical Equipment
Divided into classes Control the design requirements and quality assurance measures in the Design Manufacturing Installation Repair SSM Appendix 1 Document no: 15-36 Special conditions for the ESS facility in Lund Chapter 5: Mechanical devices Condition D: Classification 1. Mechanical equipment shall be divided into classes to control the design requirements and quality assurance measures in the design, manufacture, and installation and repair of equipment intended for use at the facility. These classes shall be determined with regard to the significance of the mechanical integrity of the equipment for facility safety in all events up to and including the event class improbable events (H4A). 2. Mechanical equipment shall be designed, manufactured, installed and inspected in accordance with conditions D3-6 and D9-13 conditions. For the design and manufacture of pressure equipment where deficiencies or malfunctions will not cause emission of radioactive substances, the Swedish Work Environment Authority regulations on pressure equipment and simple pressure vessels shall apply with regard to condition D3. Designed, manufctured, installed and inspected according to Condition D3-6 and D9-13 If a malfunction will not cause emission of radioactiv substances the AFS 2016:1 and AFS 2016:2 shall apply

5 Classification – Safety SSC
General Classification Mechanical Electrical and I&C Civil HVAC Lifting ESS , ESS rules for radiation safety classification of mechanical equipment ESS , ESS rules for technical requirements for mechanical equipment ESS , ESS rules for quality regulation for mechanical equipment, RESSQ-Mech Safety SSC – Safety Structure, System, Components

6 Classification – Mechanical Quality Class
MQC1 Equipments are not identified at ESS No requirments for MQC1 in RESSQ RCC-MRx Safety SSC MQC1 N1Rx MQC2 N2Rx MQC3 N3Rx MQC4; this is the highest quality in the industrial Pulp industry (pappersmassa industri) Steel industry Different between MQC2-3 and 4, Requirements on the company, personnel is the same It is only the scope of testing and inspection Who is review, perform or supervision Safety Related SSC Industrial Standard (= PED / EUROCODE) MQC4 Non-Safety
