1 EVANGELISM JESUS STYLE
We’re not all preachers, But we are all reachers.

2 1 Peter 3:15-16 15 but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks for a reason for the hope that is in you; 16 yet do it with gentleness and respect ESV

3 Matthew 10:6-8 6 Go to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. 7 And proclaim as you go, saying, 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' 8 Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, cast out demons. ESV

4 5 MYTHS ABOUT EVANGELISM
1. People are not open to the gospel. 2. Witnessing is for people with outgoing personalities. 3. It’s something I do as opposed to who I am. 4. I need to sign up for evangelism class. 5. I’m not bold enough. (Caring overcomes timidity)

5 The best way to witness is to care about people to the point of entering into their pain and helping them overcome it, and naturally share the hope and strength of your life in Christ.

6 THE KEY TO SHARING The key to sharing your faith is not what you believe, but who you believe. Share Jesus as a living person.

7 Don’t get in someone’s face. Get in someone’s shoes.

8 6 Musts to be effective 1. Be positive and upbeat, not argumentative and aggressive. 2. Have a personal testimony. 3. Be happy. 4. Be filled with the Spirit. 5. Pray for God to use you daily. 6. Leave the results to God.

9 BE READY Okay, how do I become a Christian?

10 Trust Christ as your savior. He is the way, the truth, and the life.
Share Romans 10:9-10 Read the Bible. Get involved in a Bible believing church. Grow. Serve.

11 Romans 10:9-10 9 If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. ESV

12 TACTICS THAT DON’T WORK
Do you want to go to Heaven? Don’t read the Bible to an unbeliever. Don’t preach….share. Don’t argue, gently convince. Don’t tell others what they have to do, tell them what God has done for them.

13 There are emotional barriers that cause people to reject God that are very personal. Most people don’t have an intellectual argument against God—it’s personal.

14 Jesus had to deal with the woman at the well about her emotional barrier. She felt she was unqualified because she had five husbands, and was presently living with one she had not married.

15 SKEPTIC OR CYNIC? There’s a difference between a skeptic and a cynic. A skeptic will believe if he finds evidence. A cynic will not believe even if there is evidence.

16 A skeptic doubts God’s goodness, not so much his existence.

17 7 do’s and don’ts 1. Pray for God to use you evangelistically.
2. Have a dynamic personal faith. 3. Be ready to share appropriately. A. Ask God how you can insert some good news into conversations. B. Evangelistic sharing should not be religious argumentation.

18 4. Anticipate antagonistic cultural mindsets.
A. Gently overcome stereotypes and common misconceptions of Christianity. B. Us proactive strategies, always kindly and convincing. 5. Expect results....positive and negative. A. Some people want to hear more. B. Some people will fear or resent you.

19 6. Be sensitive to people’s open and closed buttons.
A. The Holy Spirit helped Jesus read people. B. You may only be able to get in a good word. Take what you can get and don’t push it past the limit.

20 7. Be led by the Spirit. There’s a time to speak and time to be quiet
7. Be led by the Spirit. There’s a time to speak and time to be quiet. The Spirit didn’t tell Philip to stop every chariot that came by….just the one with the Ethiopian.

21 I was loaded for logic, I was ready for rhetoric, But I had no defense against love.
