2 Outline Types of grid elements Architecture of the GRID
LCFGng server installation DHCP,NFS and HTTP configuration RPM configuration XML configuration file Testbed site configuration in Catania

3 Possible configurations of the site
Only CE + WN, SE : configure site for CPU and storage resources (minimal testbed) ; Only UI : configure site for user accesses ; All nodes (CE + WN, SE, UI) : configure site for all resources (CPU, disk space, users access) .

4 LCFGng server installation
The procedure for setting up an LCFGng server for the first time, using some shell script and package lists to reduce amount of manual work involved . With this server it is possible to install nodes with RedHat 6.2 or RedHat 7.3 . The installation will start via diskette .

5 DHCP and NFS configuration
The documentation for LCFGng installation is available at the URL : DHCP and NFS configuration

6 DHCP (for network boot information)
Insert into /etc/dhcpd.conf the follow informations 1- Hardware and ethernet address 2- The root-path and user-class Example host grid003 { option user-class “ hardware ethernet 00:20:ed:13:3b:f6; fixed-address ; option root-path “/opt/local/linux/nginstallroot/6.2/”; option option-151 “ } Run the dhcp daemon /etc/rc.d/inint.d/dhcpd start

7 NFS Add these lines to /etc/exports :
These allows access for RPMs repository /opt/local/linux/ address-node(ro,no_root_squash) /opt/local/linux/ address-node(ro,no_root_squash) Theese allows access for installroot image /opt/local/linux/nginstallroot/ address-node(ro,no_root_squash) /opt/local/linux/nginstallroot/ address-node(ro,no_root_squash)

8 LCFG: RPM configuration
The list of RPMs to be installed on a node is defined in text files stored in the LCFG server These RPM lists can be shared by several nodes; the LCFG configuration associates one list to each node These files must be accessible to the clients using a remote file system (NFS) The RPMs themselves must be also accessible via NFS Any RPM installed manually in the client without being included in the files will be AUTOMATICALLY REMOVED

9 LCFG: XML configuration profiles
A daemon in the LCFG server (mkxprof) polls for changes in the source files and coverts them into XML profiles; one XML profile per client node The XML profiles are published into a web server LCFG clients can be configured to poll at regular intervals, or to receive automatic change notifications or they can fetch new profiles in response to an explicit command. A daemon in each LCFG client (rdxprof) reads its associated XML profile from the web server and caches it locally (DBM file) LCFG scripts access the local cache to extract the configuration values and execute changes accordingly Mkxprof also generates a HTML status page:
