4 EPA Update: MOVES2014b EPA will present on the upcoming MOVES release – MOVES2014b – at the MOVES Review Work Group meeting on June 13th. If you’re not on the contact list for the MOVES Review Work Group and wish to receive meeting invitations and information, please contact Sarah. A summary of EPA’s analyses comparing MOVES2014a with MOVES2014b will also be shared with this group at the June work group meeting Draft MOVES2014b nonroad technical reports and peer-review materials are posted on EPA’s Science Inventory page: (search “nonroad”) EPA working towards incorporating MOVES2014b in the 2016 beta version

5 Aggregating Nonroad SCCs
As noted in previous work group discussions, the large number of SCCs in the nonroad sector make for cumbersome emissions files (~1.0 – 1.6 GB compressed for a national inventory) For reporting nonroad emissions inventories, EPA proposing to roll-up SCCs by equipment sector and fuel type, with some exceptions (to avoid conflicts in temporal profiles and spatial surrogate assignments) Aggregating nonroad SCCs would result in a 78% overall reduction in reported nonroad SCCs EPA is seeking feedback from this work group on this proposal for streamlining nonroad emissions inventories (spreadsheet illustrating the mapping between current and aggregated SCCs available on the work group wiki) Equipment Sector* Total SCCs Aggregated SCCs % Reduction Agriculture 55 5 91% Commercial 30 83% Construction 130 96% Industrial 35 10 71% Lawn & Garden 135 74% Logging 15 67% Pleasure Craft 3 40% Railway Maintenance 0% Recreational 17 12% Underground Mining TOTAL 432 93 78% *Airport Support and Oil Field equipment sectors not included in national nonroad inventory

6 Updating nonroad model inputs for 2016 Inventory
For the 2014 NEI, EPA ran 320 CDBs for states/counties that submitted CDBs or NCDs (including submissions prior to 2014): CO, CT, DE, GA, IL, IN, IA, MD, MI, MN, NV, NH, NJ, NY, NC, OH, RI, TX, WA, WI 2014 inventory also includes California and tribal emissions submittals State/county submissions addressed equipment populations, engine population growth rates, annual activity, temporal allocation of activity to different seasons, and allocation of equipment population from state to county Presentations from Texas, Georgia, LADCO, and North Carolina to this work group have highlighted the importance of local and updated model inputs Some work group members have expressed interest in developing model inputs for the 2016 inventory

7 Updating nonroad model inputs for 2016 Inventory
Questions for discussion: Level of interest in seeing this work group develop specific inputs for the 2016 inventory Anticipated level of engagement work group members and/or their organizations might be able to devote to this effort, and what those contributions might look like On which model inputs this work group should focus its efforts (e.g., population, temporal (seasonal) allocations, growth rates, annual activity, allocation equipment populations from state to county) On which equipment sectors should this work group focus? Identifying regions or states with specialized data available to support data improvements

8 Other Business Preparing for beta version
Beta version will incorporate state-supplied data for States and Locals wishing to provide these data If you intend to supply data for inclusion in the beta nonroad inventory run, please contact Sarah and Alison Data can be provided in spreadsheets NONROAD default values will be used for States that do not provide data Call for volunteers to serve as work group co-chair Questions and Discussion Next meeting: June 3:30pm EDT
