Secondary Activities in the BMW
In the BMW the % of people employed in unskilled work is higher than the national average and the % of professional people is lower than in other areas. The whole region lacks any consistent development of industry and it relies on food processing, timber processing and textiles.

The BMW is not a favourable location for industry due to the following factors 1 its transport networks are poorly developed 2 its population is small and so labour pool and markets are small 3 due to its peripheral location transport costs are high 4 not enough power supplies to support heavy industry

Galway is the only urban center and has electronics.NUIG provides a trained workforce and the city has direct transport links with the east by air, road and rail.
