5 Traditional versus new platform
Recently there has been a rapid adoption of Virtual Learning Environments (VLEs) in schools, colleges and higher education institutions. One aim is that these new learning platforms will help teachers to optimise the time spent teaching and provide a service for students who use the Internet as the main tool for finding information and resources. As we have seen from Silverwood Comprehensive, a VLE is a set of teaching and learning tools designed to enhance a student's learning experience by including computers and the Internet in the learning process. But what features, functions and target audience is the VLE serving? The traditional classroom has changed somewhat over the last few years, not only in layout but also the technology it uses to support teaching and learning. Now ‘share’ your ideas with the whole class.
