2 Do we need to change our behaviour policy?
During the last OfSted monitoring visit in September, they told us that: We should promote high standards of behaviour and reduce the incidence of low level disruption in classes by: Establishing clear expectations and procedures for behaviour, and; Ensuring that all staff implement them consistently.

3 Do we need to change our behaviour policy?
This low level disruption led to a Progress 8 score of -0.41; this is below average.

4 What is Positive Discipline?
It is a system that is driven by the student planner. This provides a link between home and school. The planner needs to be signed on a weekly basis. All pupils should carry their planners with them at all times. Relies totally on consistency. Pupils and staff all know where they stand within the system, and what comes next depending on the choices made. We will be consistent in our approach to rewarding children; We will be consistent in our approach to giving sanctions for unacceptable behaviour, made through making poor choices.

5 What is Positive Discipline?
The policy uses positive reinforcement in the form of stamps, that are exchanged for rewards. Rewards are for things like: Hard work and effort; good manners; contributing in class; good achievement; Attendance; Punctuality; good uniform; being organised; Extra-curricular, etc.

8 What is Positive Discipline?
Allocates consequences for poor behaviour; Pupils receive consequences because of a CHOICE they make. The pathway for consequences will be made very clear to all students. ‘Take up time’ will be given, to give students the chance to make the right choice.

13 The PD process – H, U and E codes, lateness – 3=detention
No homework, or missing homework. E No pen, pencil, ruler, PE kit. U We will allow the child to correct in the first instance, further issues will result in a U code. Late The L code is only for AM tutor time. Late to lesson (more than 5 minutes) is a B code.

14 Possible further sanctions
Seclusion After on call a student will do a minimum of 5 full periods in seclusion, they will return to class if seclusion is completed successfully. SLT isolation If failing seclusion, a child will shadow SLT for an agreed period. Exclusion At the Head teacher’s discretion. Within trust exclusion A final attempt to avoid exclusion. Pupils may be sent to our partner school in Scarborough for the period of time that they would have been excluded. This enables a continuation of school life.

15 Mobile phones must not be seen or heard
If they are, they will be removed from the pupil and taken to the school office. 3rd time not given back to the child One exception – if a child has an emergency, they need to contact the office where they will be told where they can make the call. Truancy around school will not be accepted and will lead to further sanctions being issued consistently.

16 Support for all our pupils
If a pupil repeatedly receives consequences for poor behaviour then we shall intervene: Robust data tracking; Support from the school staff; form tutors, behaviour support officers, heads of year, curriculum and teaching staff; Links with home; A wide reaching programme of interventions Inclusion meetings to support the children who are most in need.
