13 What do we need to Order? What is the total # of feet of 1 ½” Pipe Needed? 3 Feet of 1 1/2” Pipe = Top Rail What is the total # of feet of 1 ¼” Pipe Needed? 4 x 22” for the legs = 88” or 88” ÷ 12”per Foot = 7’ 4” 2 x 9” for the braces = 18” or 18” ÷ 12”per Foot =1’6” Accounting for the kerf 1/8” x 6 cuts = ¾” Legs + Braces = 8’ 10 3/4” of 1 ¼” Pipe

14 Dimension T x W x L (don't forget units)
 Legs & Braces 1 ¼” x 7’ 10 ¾” 1 Pipe  2  Top Rail  1 ½” x 3’1/4”  1 Description Dimension T x W x L (don't forget units) Quantity Material Item Bill of Materials

16 Use the following charts to calculate the weight of a sawhorse.
One Step Further… Steel is priced based on its weight per length since all steel is steel, it is just sold in different shapes. We use charts to determine the weight per foot of length to determine the price of a piece of steel. Use the following charts to calculate the weight of a sawhorse.

17 Outside Diameter Inside Diameter Wall thickness Lbs/Foot Nominal Diameter 3.068 3.5 0.216 7.58 3 2.469 2.875 0.203 5.79 2 1/2 2.067 2.375 0.154 3.65 2 1.61 1.9 0.145 2.72 1 1/2 1.38 1.66 0.14 2.27 1 1/4

18 Weight of pipes we need? 1 ¼” = 2.27lbs/foot 1 ½” = 2.72lbs/foot
We are using 3’ ¼” of 1 ½” pipe = 3.25’ x 2.72 lbs/foot = 8.84 lbs for the top rail We are using 7’ 10 ¾” of the 1 ¼” pipe = 7.89’ x 2.27lbs/foot = lbs for the legs and braces. Total weight of project = legs + braces + top rail = 8.84lbs lbs = lbs.
