Gun policy in the United States The degree to which firearms can or should be regulated has ong been debated in the United States, although no federal gun control of any form existed for the first 158 years of the country’s history.

5 Background Information
KFC Kentucky Fried Chicken is based in Louisville, Kentucky. KFC is known for its fried chicken which is prepared by coating fresh-cut pieces of chicken in a flour, salt, and pepper mixture, then cooking immersed in hot oil in a pressure cooker. KFC now has more than 30,000 restaurants worldwide.

Face to face with : e.g. We were in the downtown area when we came face to face with Jack. 2. Like most city folks, I’m cautious. I scan the street and pathways for anything – or anyone – unusual before pulling into the garage. cautious: careful to avoid danger or risks e. g. You should be cautious when you cross the street.

pull into: move to one side and stop e.g. Let’s pull into this roadside restaurant for something to eat. 3. That night was no exception. Meaning: That night was not different. no exception: something that is definitely included. e.g. All fresh vegetables, with no exception, contain some vitamin C.

I’ve seen enough trials to know victims of armed attacks are seldom able to identify their offenders because their attention focuses on the guns, rather than on their users. Meaning: I have seen enough criminal trials and I know very few victims of armed attacks are able to remember what their attackers look like, because the victims watch the guns instead of watching the users of the guns.

Meaning: By that time, I was lying on the pathway with my face touching it and the dust and soil against my forehead. 6. I had been spared, but by what? Mercy? A short attention span? Hunger? Meaning: if a person is spared, he is not harmed, although someone or something threatened him or harmed other people.

Together, these young men are a kind of river – one that is out of control, eating of the foundations of thins we hold dear… Meaning: these young men are a kind of river, a river that is out of control, and that is gradually damaging the ideas that we truly value… Out of control: no longer in control. e.g. The fire is burning out of control.

Hold dear: value a great deal; care greatly e.g. These are the ideas we hold dear. 8. Some day, we will have to face this river and seek the depths of its discontent. Meaning: Some day, we will have to deal with these young men and try to find out the causes of their unhappiness.
