1 Y. Davis Geometry Notes Chapter 11

2 Postulate 11.1 Area Addition Postulate
The area of a region is the sum of the areas of its non-overlapping parts

3 Area of a Parallelogram
A=bh

4 Postulate 11.2 Area Congruence Postulate
If 2 figures are congruent, then they have the same area.

5 Area of a Triangle A=½bh

6 Area of a Trapezoid A=½(b2+b1)h

7 Area of Rhombus or Kite A=½d1d2

8 Area of Circle A=πr²

9 Sector of a circle A region of a circle bounded by a central angle and its intercepted arc.

10 Area of Sectors

11 Center A Central Angle Radius Apothem

12 Central Angle The measure of a central angle is 360 divided by the number of sides

13 Area of Regular Polygon
A=½aP

14 Composite Figures A figure that can be separated into regions that are basic figures.

15 Theorem 11.1 Area of similar polygons
If 2 polygons are similar, then their areas are proportional to the square of the scale factor between them.
