3 WHY? Promote Scholarship, Engagement, the Arts, Research, Creativity, and Humanities on campus. Provide internal support for faculty-guided student research. Enrich students’ academic preparation through research experiences aligned with their field of study. Create opportunities for student research and scholarship that go beyond the scope of ordinary coursework. Bolster student success and retention through distinctive scholarly experiences.

5 Who? Full-time undergraduate students Full-time graduate students
Students in ALL disciplines, majors, programs Faculty sponsor – each applicant MUST have one All student / faculty teams must document the support of the Department Head via her/his signature on the Application Cover Page!

6 How & When? Submit a Full Proposal by 5:00pm on March 8, 2018.

7 Student search Grant Program Details

8 Priorities The proposed research project is carefully designed and appropriate to the student’s discipline. The proposal is clearly and persuasively written and adheres to the guidelines in content and format. The student has demonstrated academic merit and has a proven ability to carry out the project tasks. The project will advance the student’s educational and professional goals.

9 Award Amount & Duration
Maximum Award Amount = $1,000 Project Period=12 month (July 1, 2018 – June 30, 2019) Plan your project accordingly. There will be no additional funds granted, and “no-cost extensions” will not be considered. Funds not expended by June 30, 2019 will no longer be available to the research team.

10 Approvals Required The department head for the student-faculty research team members Remember, all projects involving Hamilton County Schools need HCDE approval! IRB or IACUC approval (not required for submission, but needed before research with humans or animals begins)

11 Reporting Requirements
Final Report is required of ALL awardees. Report is due within 30 days of the project end-date (June 30) – deadline is July 31. Fine to submit earlier if the project ends earlier or if the student is graduating. Failure to submit a final report can render the student ineligible to apply for more funds AND can impact future proposals from the faculty sponsor. Reporting elements included in the Application Guidelines.
