3. Our goal
Improve geohazard scientific research and geohazard assessment in support of Disaster Risk Reduction.
At each Supersite the international scientific community generates hazard and monitoring information using Open Data and collaborative tools.
The local institutes which are part of the national framework for risk management are the only ones mandated to provide geohazard information support to decision-makers and end-users.

4. Our approach (Open Science)
Collaboration (over 150 scientists in our community)
Capacity building (ad hoc training; collaborative research; access to instruments and labs; higher education)
Community services (data sharing/management; data analysis/processing; information management and preservation)
We mobilize over 7 Meuro/year, mostly from in kind contributions from the partnership, with variable direct funding from research projects.

5. Our lesson learnt
Significant impact beyond the Supersite regions arises from the focused approach
The full implementation of Open Science is needed to maximise impact
It is important to maintain control on authorship and IPRs
Importance of community tools for data processing and analysis
Need to respect the national accountability chain for risk management and communication
There is a still unexplored potential for innovative risk management services in various market sectors
