2 Gaussian of constant normalized emittance in blue
SFTPRO1 (07/11/07) Gaussian of constant normalized emittance in blue x = 3.56 mm BIPMH51634 x = 87.9 m x = 0.81 mm Elias Métral, APC meeting, 07/12/2007

3 Gaussian of constant normalized emittance in blue
LHC 25 ns (08/11/07) WITHOUT controlled BU WITH controlled BU (ecloud studies) Gaussian of constant normalized emittance in blue x = 2.68 mm x = 1.51 mm Elias Métral, APC meeting, 07/12/2007 x = 2.10 mm

4 Comparison with BWS meas.: ~ 0.55 m
IONS: 1 bunch on the long injection flat bottom (30/10/07) BIPMV51734 y = 91.2 m y  2.7 mm Comparison with BWS meas.: ~ 0.55 m  Good agreement! Elias Métral, APC meeting, 07/12/2007

5  ~ 4 times bigger value at 450 GeV/c with IPMV!
IONS: 4 bunches up to 450 GeV/c (30/10/07) y = 3.2 mm y = 1.3 mm Comparison with BWS meas.: After 1st inj.  0.55 m 12800 ms  0.83 m  ~ 4 times bigger value at 450 GeV/c with IPMV! Elias Métral, APC meeting, 07/12/2007

6  ~ 2.5 times bigger value at 270 GeV/c with IPMV!
IONS: 3 bunches up to 270 GeV/c (24/10/07) After 1st inj After 2nd inj y = 2.99 mm y = 3.00 mm After 3rd inj y = 3.25 mm y = 1.28 mm  ~ 2.5 times bigger value at 270 GeV/c with IPMV! Elias Métral, APC meeting, 07/12/2007

7 CONCLUSIONS AND OUTLOOK (1/2)
Measurements have been performed in 2007 with both IPMH and IPMV (not working at the same time!) Good agreement found with BWS at low energy However, (with the ions) at top energy bigger values were measured with the IPMs wrt the BWS At 270 GeV/c  A factor of ~ 2.5 At 450 GeV/c  A factor of ~ 4 Another issue which has to be understood is the value of the signal after multiple injections Elias Métral, APC meeting, 07/12/2007

8 CONCLUSIONS AND OUTLOOK (2/2)
Next year a detailed comparison between the IPMs and the BWS should be made  The IPM is really a nice tool to observe “online” any blow-up of the transverse emittance (or modification of the profile) at any time along the cycle WITH controlled BU (ecloud studies) Gaussian of constant normalized emittance in blue Elias Métral, APC meeting, 07/12/2007
