Early disclosure to the Working Group of patent information that might be relevant to the standard is essential to reduce the possibility for delays in the development process and increase the likelihood that the draft publication will be approved for publication. Please notify the Chair as early as possible, in written or electronic form, if patented technology (or technology under patent application) might be incorporated into a draft standard being developed within the IEEE Working Group. March 2007 Non-AP Scenario IV First responder (fire, police, EMS) radios. Need the improved range and connectivity afforded by mesh but there is just no reason for a Fireman’s walkie-talkie to be an Access Point. Donald Eastlake 3rd, Motorola

11 Another Factor Beacon Bloat
March 2007 doc.: IEEE P /0391r1 March 2007 Another Factor Beacon Bloat Requiring Mesh Points to be Access Points tends to imply that all required AP Beacon / Probe Response fields must appear in Mesh Point Beacons / Probe Responses. For further discussion of this factor, see “Specific or Universal Beacons?”, Guido Hiertz, 11-07/403r0. Donald Eastlake 3rd, Motorola Donald Eastlake 3rd, Motorola

12 March 2007 Vote on PAR Amendment The exact text of the proposed PAR and 5 Criterion amendment is in 11-07/149r5 with changes tracked from the documents currently in effect. It implements the change discussed above. Generally change Access Point to Station. Delete ESS. It brings a few dates and references up to date. Otherwise, it tries to make minimal changes. At the poorly attended closing plenary session in London, this document had broad support but failed by exactly one vote to get the required 75%. TGs continues to believe this amendment should be adopted by the Working Group and plans to bring it up at the closing plenary this session. Donald Eastlake 3rd, Motorola
