To Boast – To speak to cause people to esteem To speak to make known exploits To challenge others (Galatians 5:26) It is about intent and purpose
. Ga 5:26 Let us not become boastful, challenging one another, envying one another.

And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not fitting….. backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things…..who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them Romans 1:28, 30,32

For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy….. having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away! Timothy 3:2,5
