1 1 mi = Km 25) (Extra Credit) If a swimmer swims 90.5 yards in 6 minutes, how many meters will she swim in 20 seconds?

2 After your quiz Grab a math review worksheet.
This will be your HW if you don’t finish in class.

3 Vocabulary Self-Assessment
Review your vocabulary words for this unit. Check off the ones you know, and provide an example and a definition. Your example can be an image. This will be turned in before your Unit 1 Exam. DO NOT LOSE THIS PAPER – YOU WILL NOT GET ANOTHER ONE.

4 Motion Motion Definition:
Change in location relative to a reference point. In my own words: Write the definition of motion in your own words Motion Examples: Linear Angular Projectile Image: Draw a visual that will help you remember motion Students liked this one more than Frayer because it was less complicated. A few more than those who liked the visual vocab strategies.

5 Image of Motion What else do we notice about this change in position over time? How far does the skateboarder travel?

6 Describing Motion

7 How do we describe motion?
How would you describe the motion of a ball rolling across the floor?

8 Distance We often talk about distance, but what exactly is distance?
Measures the change in position. Distance traveled: how far an object travels along a path.

9 Calculating Distance Distance = Rate * Time D = rt
In physics, this rate is often called speed.

10 Speed Lab

11 Lab Instructions READ the instructions in your lab manual (p. 10 -11).
COPY THE TABLE onto a sheet of paper. It must be exactly the same as the table in the manual. You MUST collect your data this class period. We will review graphing next class period.

12 Before you Go: Clean up your station:
Make sure the car is resting next to the ramp Photogate is disconnected from the ramp Timer is unplugged

13 Exit Ticket Average speed is the speed a object travels over a given distant. Instantaneous speed is the speed of an object at a particular instant in time. Which speed did you calculate during this lab? Support your answer.
