2 Art Media- materials used to create art
Art Process- action involved in making art Aesthetics-branch of philosophy used to identify criteria used to understand, judge and defend judgements Art Critics- examine works of art Art Historians- seek objective facts about artists

3 Elements of Art Basic components or building blocks
Artists use these to express ideas

4 intensity (brightness)
Color Hue (name) intensity (brightness) value (light and dark)

5 Value a range from highlight (the brightest highlight being white) to shadow (the darkest being black) and all of the tones in between.

6 Line Continuous mark made on a surface by a moving point

7 Texture The way things feel or look as if they might feel

8 Shape Shapes are everywhere. More common ones are given names such as circle or square. There are an infinite amount of shape possibilities and combinations.

9 Form Forms are often called the "three-dimensional shapes". Unlike flat, two-dimensional areas, Forms are represented as "three-dimensional". 3D objects 2 types of form: Mass- outside size and bulk of form Volume-space within the form

10 Space Distance or area between, around, above, below or within a work of art Can be either 2D or 3D
