1 Meeting of the Steering Group on Simulation State-of-play of SGS Activities Munich, 25 June 2014
Biagio Ciuffo Georgios Fontaras Stefanos Tsiakmakis Alessandro Marotta JRC

2 Agenda Minutes approval and next SGS meetings
Update on LAT, JRC, complementary studies Finalization of the vehicle list for both M1 and N1 vehicles Meta-model comparison Accuracy requirements for Cruise simulation Test Protocol application check AOB

3 Next SGS meeting and minutes
SGS face-to-face meeting in the same week or in the week before the TWG meeting (likely to be in the week 22-26)? Brussels on September 22 might be a possibility Any comment on the Minutes of the last meeting?

4 Update on LAT work

5 JRC testing activities
Completed tests Audi A4, Volvo V40, Fiat 500, Fiat Punto On-going/scheduled tests AR Giulietta, Honda CR-Z, Toyota Prius Possible additional tests VW Passat, 1 N1-III vehicle (if EU6 the test is possible end September) FIAT tests Completed for all 5 vehicles Results already discussed for 3 (Punto, 500, and Giulietta) Cross-comparison successful for Punto and 500. Discussion had last week in Ispra for both tests and models. A final cross-comparison report will be submitted to the SGS before the next meeting The remaining 2 vehs (Mito and 500AT) will not be tested in Ispra

6 JRC modeling activities
Development of Compas A complete robust model for the Fiat Punto has been developed. Several modules have been added (ranging from electric to different temperature effects, etc.) A Cruise template (for the segment) has been derived from this work. It will be presented to the SGS during the meeting. Now that a model has been finalized, the SA of Cruise can be carried out. We plan to complete it during the month of August to check whether Compas already includes the main parameters for both CO2 and Delta(CO2)

7 Complementary studies
Germany.

8 Complementary studies
France. Several problems in starting the tests

9 Complementary studies
The Netherlands The Dutch program will include 1 N1-III vehicle The Daimler Sprinter EU6 would be their choice Possible schedule might be after the end of September

10 Complementary studies
UK (program tbc end of the year) 4 vehicles to be tested Euro 6 (Euro 5 ok but not Euro 4) Ford does not have a EU6 model. EU5 might be Ok. Pollutant emissions test will be a priority (not shared with the COM) Minimum 2 diesel vehicles (could be more diesel if necessary) Ok to source from non-UK producers Ok to focus on N1 Class III Is Jaguar F-type 3l gasoline still of interest?

11 Complementary studies
Sweden. Complementary study on-going Test results for the first group of vehicles already sent to JRC (yesterday)

12 Update on the vehicles list
Available slots 1-2 additional vehicles at LAT (M1) 1 additional vehicle at NL (N1) 2 additional vehicles JRC (N1+M1) 4 for the UK program (3-4N1) Needs N1 vehicles (how many?). Highest priority M1? EU6 Diesel Low-pressure EGR Cylinder deactivation Other?

13 Meta-model comparison
Evidence from additional results (if available on time) and the criteria for the choice.

14 Accuracy requirements for Cruise simulation
Analysis of the problems from LAT simulations and discussion on how to handle them. What about the request by OEMs to achieve the type-approval values even though they are experienced during the different tests?

15 Approach to AT modeling
We agreed to approach the AT modeling by using the GTR gear-shift tool on both WLTP and NEDC and then apply a correction based on an exogenous parameter (min engine speed was proposed). No further news since the Munich meeting. How to approach AT modeling in a robust way?
