4 Before you start: What did I say?
Look back through my comments on each unit 9 blog post and make sure you have added/edited the posts appropriately, taking my comments to improve your analysis of the characteristic, or commenting on them I.E. After further feedback I realised that I needed to explore further … Have you then used them in your work: the comments from me on your work, either from the Pre-production work or the production After this think about how my comments could improve your work now and in the future

5 Evaluating your work Crafting:
Make sure the words you have chosen have the meaning you intended Have you chosen the right synonym? Does the word choice suit the tone, style and voice of the piece? Do the words chosen suit the characterisation, setting and genre of the piece? Does the dialogue suit the characters/s and is it consistent?

6 Crafting Are your sentences structured to have an impact on the reader? Is the syntax correct: word order, length of sentences and use of punctuation? Do the sentences suit the characterisation, style, tone and genre? Does the work open with the most important information: The Hook/Lead? Dramatic point/inciting moment – if drama are we aware of the world, the characters that inhabit that world and how the interact.

7 Please answer these questions as part of the EVALUATING stage for Unit 9
Which skills/characteristics (at least three) do you think have developed and have helped your writing the in this unit? Why and how? Weakness and Strengths: how did you overcome any issues and problems: which solutions did you find Which exercises have been the most useful to you and your writing and your understanding of how to develop your work (crafting)? Which characteristics of the mediums have helped you understand the medium? How does the writing in each medium/form compare and how do they differ? Reflect back on the characteristics and whether you recognise this in your own writing? Reflect on the process of writing: the main characters or human interest in the story and how their needs drive the action and the plot/story; the themes or subject and how it was structured. Checking, proofreading plus crafting editing your work ETC.

8 Reading! Take a step back and look at your work as the Reader: will the writing have the impact and effect on your reader that you intended?

9 From reading & watching & listening to writing & producing:
Demonstrate critical awareness of personal writing processes, reflecting on the relationship between your ideas, aims, development and technique. Have you responded to existing published or transmitted work as a source of learning (inspirational, inspiring), stimulus and creative strategy in producing own writing and/or production etc.? Explain your choice of medium. How and why you made your choices.

10 From reading & watching & listening to writing & producing:
What skills and knowledge have you used and learnt to fulfil the idea and aim of initial ideas? Here I want to see specific mention of the crafting tools: specificity, active vs passive, strong verbs, metaphor, simile extended metaphor, imagery, SHOWING not TELLING, characterisation, tone, style and voice plus journalistic skills: what are the characteristics of a feature for print, radio and film. How did you ensure that there was conflict in your story? What decision and choices have you made along the way including drafting, crafting and editing? DID the reading/recording/filming change the way you looked at the work; did you make any changes/edits subsequent from recording/viewing etc.

11 You! How have you developed as a writer during this process?
