5 WHY should WE TEACH STUDENTS ABOUT GROWTH MINDSET?
Increased credits earned and on-time graduation. Yeager et al. (2013) found that students who learned about growth mindset in the summer prior to their freshman year in college increased their likelihood of earning 12+ credits during their first term by 3-4% indicating a strong prediction of on-time graduation from college. Reduction in courses failed. Over 1500 students in 13 diverse high schools across the country who learned about growth mindset showed a reduction in percentage of courses failed by low-achieving students by nearly 7 percentage points, compared to control group students. (Paunesku et al 2015).

6 WHY should WE AS EDUCATORS LEARN ABOUT GROWTH MINDSET?
Teacher mindset influences student’s test scores and attitude towards learning. Rheinberg (2000) found that teachers with a growth mindset helped their low achieving students improve their achievement score more than teachers with a fixed mindset.
