3 The Difference between test and tempt:
- A Temptation is being enticed or invited to sin. - A Test is being trusted to make the right choice.

4 Walk Like Jesus in the Word

5 Temptation # 1 Meet your physical needs now.
Man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the LORD. - Deut. 8:3

6 Temptation # 2 Worship other gods
Fear the LORD your God, serve him only and take your oaths in his name. - Deut. 6:13

7 Temptation # 3 Do things my way
Do not test the LORD your God as you did at Messiah. - Deut. 6:16

8 Temptation is Satan’s weapon to defeat us, but it can become God’s tool to build us up and make us strong.

9 Satan knows how to tempt us and when we are most likely to sin.
- A time of discouragement and weakness (Jesus fasting) - A time of success (After Jesus was baptized) - A time of boredom or free time. (Jesus was alone in the wilderness)

10 There are Two Lies Satan Wants Us to Believe
1. Just once won’t hurt. 2. Now that you have ruined your life, you are beyond God’s use, and might as well enjoy sinning.

11 God’s Word is our number 1 source to fight off temptation.
The Big Picture: God’s Word is our number 1 source to fight off temptation.

12 Psalm 119:11 - “I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you”

13 Psalm 119:103 – How Sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth

14 Ephesians 6:17 – The armor of God
Ephesians 6:17 – The armor of God. And take the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. Our only offensive weapon

15 Yes I can do what is right.
Heb. 4:15 – Jesus is my example. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin.

16 Yes I can do what is right.
I Cor. 10:13 – God is faithful and will help me through it. No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

17 Prayer Jesus said, “Watch and Pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” - Mark 14:38

18 Listening at the feet of Jesus - Luke 10:38-42

19 Will we walk like Jesus in the Word?
