4 Transactional Analysis Philosophy
Everyone “belongs” and has intrinsic value We are born and have the capacity to be OK Everyone can think. Everyone can change We all have the right to change our minds.

Therefore…… We believe in a process of open communication. We believe in a contractual methodology.

6 So what is a contract? Eric Berne defined a contract as: An explicit,
bilateral commitment towards a well-defined course of action.

7 This definition has some implications…
That there is a process of clarity; ie clear communication. That all parties are involved in its negotiation The process has clarity The outcome has clarity. Non-negotiable terms-and-conditions therefore are not “a contract” according to this definition.

Valid Consideration There’s enough in it for me…and for you.

9 Lawful Object Compliance with national law
Compliance with policy and procedure Compliance with a good ethical stance.

12 A Change Contract What changes do you want / wish for in order to enhance your life? How will you need to change to get what you want / wish for? What needs to happen for you to make this change? What are you willing to do in order to make this change? How might you sabotage yourself? How will you and I know when you have made the change? How will you reward yourself for making the change? What will you do in your life after you have made the changes?
