2 How to qualify for each category: Professional contestants must have a professionally recorded CD Sonny McGillivary Amateur contestants must not have recorded a professionally recorded CD but are allowed to have one single recorded CD All contestants must register online; music, biography and payment has to be sent ahead of time Open to male and female contestants There is no category for duets – single contestants only 18 years of age and older (proof will be asked) Registration fee for the Professional contest is $280.00 and must be submitted with registration make cheque payable to Opaskwayak Indian Days re: Talent Contest Registration fee for the Sonny McGillivary contest is $140.00 and must be submitted with registration make cheque payable to Opaskwayak Indian Days re: Talent Contest No written lyrics permitted during talent show performance. A contestant with written lyrics during the talent contest will be disqualified and scored zero and no refund. Rules and Regulations Contestants

3 Rehearsal time will be in the Constant Room at the Kikiwak Inn Rehearsal time for local contestants: Wednesday, August 15 - 7pm to 11pm Thursday, August 16 - 7pm to 11pm Rehearsal time for out of town contestants: Thursday, August 16 – 7pm to 11pm Friday, August 17 – 9am – 3pm To avoid time constraints during rehearsal time if the band can successfully play the contestants song, will conclude for that contestant To avoid time constraints the contestant will be allowed 10 minutes Foul language and/or verbal abuse will not be tolerated. Contestants will be disqualified immediately. The registration fee will not be refunded. Rules and Regulations Contestants

4 The first paid registered contestant will have the priority over a song. The same song cannot be entered by another contestant during the talent contest. Contestants are required to submit with their registration their first and second song choices. This will give the band time to chart it out and save on rehearsal time. There will be absolutely no Karaoke backings. Contestants are free to perform without band backup. Contestants must provide their own instrument for their personal backup and cannot be placed on the stage during the talent contest. The contestant may request the use of a stool/chair during the performance. No other furnishings or audio/video equipment will be permitted. Anyone under the influence of alcohol or prohibited substances will not be permitted to perform and registration will not be refunded. Contestants are required to appear in the order that their names are drawn prior to the time of the talent contest. All contestants must be in attendance at the Aseneskak Casino at 5 30pm to draw names of order Rule and Regulations Contestants

5 Contestants must be at the GLMC in the Green Room by 6:30pm. And, must remain on standby there after. The stage manager will be Rhonda Head who will direct contestants in order of appearance. If a contestant fails to appear after they have been called to the stage s/he will be deducted points. The contest starts at 7 pm sharp. First place winners in each category will perform an encore after the announcements of the winners. The song performed must be the same song as during the talent contest competition. 6 Only songs rehearsed by the contestant will be judged. Judges will have a list of all contestant songs rehearsed. Contestants are allowed one start time only and will be given a score of zero. Should the back up band make an error the contestant will be given an opportunity to start over and will be judged on the second attempt and the first attempt will be disregarded. In the event of a tie the higher points for voice quality will determine the winner. Should voice quality be tied points for personality will determine the winner. And, will continue for performance, appearance and audience response for any further ties. All judges decisions are final. Rules and Regulations Judging

7 Contestants will be judged on tone, timing, musicianship, stage presence, and conviction. Judging will be based on point system Rules and Regulations Judging
