4 The LORD says to my Lord:
“Sit at my right hand, until I make your enemies your footstool.” 2 The LORD sends forth from Zion your mighty scepter. Rule in the midst of your enemies! 3 Your people will offer themselves freely on the day of your power, in holy garments; from the womb of the morning, the dew of your youth will be yours.

5 4 The LORD has sworn and will not change his mind, “You are a priest forever after the order of Melchizedek.” 5 The Lord is at your right hand; he will shatter kings on the day of his wrath. 6 He will execute judgment among the nations, filling them with corpses; he will shatter chiefs over the wide earth. 7 He will drink from the brook by the way; therefore he will lift up his head.

Whose son is he?” They said to him, “The son of David.” 43 He said to them, “How is it then that David, in the Spirit, calls him Lord, saying, 44 “‘The Lord said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand, until I put your enemies under your feet”’? 45 If then David calls him Lord, how is he his son?” 46 And no one was able to answer him a word, nor from that day did anyone dare to ask him any more questions.

8 1. Verse one of Psalm 110 describes the Messiah, the Christ
1. Verse one of Psalm 110 describes the Messiah, the Christ. The one sitting at God’s feet ruling over his enemies is the Anointed One, the Messiah. 2. The Messiah would come in the line of David. 3. David calls the Messiah “my Lord.” The LORD (Yahweh) says to my Lord (Adonia): CONCLUSION: one thousand years before Jesus was born, David predicted that the Christ would be born as a God-man.

17 “Paul never leverages the old covenant as a basis for Christian behavior.”
"Peter, James, Paul elected to unhitch the Christian faith from their Jewish scriptures, and my friends, we must as well." “The good news is even if none of those [Old Testament] things actually happened it does nothing to undermine the credibility of our new covenant faith.”

21 For every high priest chosen from among men is appointed to act on behalf of men in relation to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He can deal gently with the ignorant and wayward, since he himself is beset with weakness. 3 Because of this he is obligated to offer sacrifice for his own sins just as he does for those of the people. 4 And no one takes this honor for himself, but only when called by God, just as Aaron was. 5 So also Christ did not exalt himself to be made a high priest, but was appointed by him who said to him, “You are my Son, today I have begotten you”; 6 as he says also in another place, “You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.”

24 • 2:5—Jesus, crowned with glory and honor because of the suffering of death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. • 2:18—For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. • 3:3—For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. • 4:15-16—For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

25 • 7:22—This makes Jesus the guarantor of a better covenant.
• 7:27—He has no need, like those high priests, to offer sacrifices daily, first for his own sins and then for those of the people, since he did this once for all when he offered up himself. • 9:13-14—or if the blood of goats and bulls, and the sprinkling of defiled persons with the ashes of a heifer, sanctify for the purification of the flesh, 14 how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.
