2 Financial Constraints for Students
Students can receive federal Pell grant funding for six total years of undergraduate education MJC caps financial aid at 90 attempted units (includes repeated courses, withdrawals, failed courses) MJC Financial Aid Office

3 Units, Units Everywhere…
Currently, 2124 enrolled students have 60+ college-level units and no degree or certificate MJC Office of Research

4 Programs and Completions
MJC currently offers 229 programs MJC awarded student degrees and/or certificates in 142 programs in 38% of MJC programs had no student completions in MJC Office of Research

5 In 2016-17, MJC granted an average of 9 awards per program

6 Curriculum Committee Decisions MATTER!
What do STUDENTS need? The value of Articulation and Degree Applicable Units 1 to 1 articulation ensures effective application of units to transfer degree Transfer Units = ? …deemed upper division at the University level …have content value, but no similar course MJC offers the first two years of a 4-year degree… Our courses should reflect what is taught year one and two Our courses need not be excessive rigor in comparison to the level Impede Student Success Keep in Mind…THEY WILL HAVE FURTHER INSTRUCTION BEYOND US
