1 Biology EOC Review: Unit 5 Evolution

2 Key Concepts: Evolution
Things to Remember: Evolution is changes over time. Natural selection is the process of nature selecting for good traits over time. Some organisms have good adaptations that help them to survive. They then pass these adaptations to their offspring. Organisms without good adaptations tend to die off and not have offspring.

3 Key Concepts: Evidence of Evolution
Things to Remember: There are multiple evidences of evolution: Comparative anatomy – when you compare the body structures of different living species. DNA Evidence – when you compare the genetic information of different living species to see how closely related they are. Embryology – when you examine an animal during its development to see what traits it may have once had. Fossils – when you compare the body structures of living species with extinct species.

4 Key Concepts: Human Evolution
Things to Remember: Humans, like every other species, have evolved over time. Our jaws have gotten smaller, thanks to the development of tools. Our brains have gotten larger, allowing us to process complex information such as language, behaviors, etc.
