4. What is qualitative data?
The collection and analysis of data that is quantifiable.
What does this mean?
For data to be quantifiable, the data must be able to be counted or mathematically calculated.
Also, quantitative research provides a means for researchers to be able to generate statistics with the data that is collected.
The general idea of quantitative research is get information that can be inferred (or generalized) to large populations of people.

5. What is quantitative data?
The idea of qualitative research is to interview or observe a small group of people to be able to determine what that specific group is experiencing.
However, the result of those interviews or observations would not be able to be generalized to a larger population such as across two states because the sample size was very small and intimate.
While qualitative research serves the field of sociology nicely, it does not work well when wanting to generate statistics or work with larger populations of people.
