1 Nutrient Body Project In your kitchen group, you will create a body by tracing a group member on the long white paper. The body should list Carbs, Protein, Fats, Water, and then your group will be assigned four vitamins and minerals. You will tell me two functions for each nutrient. One of the two functions should connect to a certain body part. (Ex. Protein helps build and repair muscle tissue. Draw a muscle on the body and make sure when you label Protein, it has an arrow pointing to the muscle. The second function does not need to connect to a body part.) You will tell me five food sources for each nutrient. You will have one picture of one of the food sources for each nutrient. (Example: Chicken for protein, draw a chicken drumstick.) When you’re finished, you will hang your body in your kitchen. The whole class will go around the room and take notes on the nutrients, vitamins, and minerals you were assigned to report on. So, you MUST finish on time or you will receive half credit. YOU HAVE PLENTY OF TIME TO FINISH THIS PROJECT. YOU NEED TO NOT BE LAZY AND WORK THE WHOLE TIME.

2 Day 1: Go over rubric, learn which nutrients/vitamins/minerals you have and start to research information for them. (The food sources, functions, etc.) Do this at your desks so that EVERYONE is working to get A LOT of information. Day 2: Get with groups & discuss information. Create a nutrient body rough draft with the body picture in your packet. Show it to me before you start. Then you may start your body on the white butcher paper. Day 3 & 4: Work on body. Finish by day four. Cause walk-around is day 5. Day 5: Walk around, take notes, and grade group members.
