1 Chapter 7 review Define Stress and list three examples of stress that act on the Earth’s crust. Define 3 types of stress that act on the Earth’s crust. Draw 3 diagrams showing how each type of stress affects the Earth’s crust and the direction of the pushing or pulling. How are hanging walls and footwalls similar and different? Define each type of fault Explain which type of stress works at each fault. Draw a diagram of what the fault looks like. List the three big landforms that are created due to plate movement. Compare and contrast anticline and syncline. How are folded mountains formed? What is an Earthquake? What is a seismic wave? What does it carry? Describe the difference between an earthquakes focus and epicenter. Define the three types of seismic waves. List and briefly define the three types of earthquake scales. What is magnitude? What is a seismograph and a seismogram? Compare and contrast these two terms.
