5 Ejection - One Coach CIAC policy
Allow 15 minutes for adult to replace ejected head coach. Do not ask for coaching certification. Replacement coach must sit. 6 Injured/Blood Player Rule – 3.3. Articles 5&6
must be replaced or can remain in game at expense of 30 or 60 sec time-out

7 Injured Player Procedure
If serious injury – i.e. head hits floor, bone is protruding, etc., sound whistle immediately and request head coach and trainer! - allow time to attend to player - this type of injury should result in substitute. - opponent can also make substitutions - resume with throw-in closest to where ball was in control.

8 Injured Player Procedure
If not serious, allow opponent to complete their fast break and attempt try. Sound whistle – stay with player - if team stops fast break/pulls up, sound whistle once try is attempted. Present options to head coach – immediate sub or keep player in, at expense of time-out. Resume play depending on outcome of try: - if successful try, opponent has throw-in on endline, and privilege to run the endline. - if unsuccessful try, resume with designated spot throw-in on endline to team with AP Arrow.

9 Blood on Player Procedure
If detected during dead ball, - sound whistle immediately. - bring player to bench area for trainer assistance & present options to coach – immediate sub or time- out to keep player in game. If detected during live ball, - sound whistle once play has “settled” and there is player control.

10 Blood on Player Uniform
If detected during dead ball, - sound whistle immediately. - bring player to bench area for trainer assistance & present options to coach – immediate sub or time- out to keep player in game. If detected during live ball, - sound whistle once play has “settled” and there is player control.

11 Blood on Player Uniform
Note – Trainer application to blood most likely will not remove the stain, but it will saturate the stain. That is OK! There is no need to change shirt or pants! If jersey must be changed, instruct coach to have player change outside the confines of the playing court. Change of uniform #, in this situation, is OK. It is NOT a technical foul.

12 Trail help - ball on Trail basket side

13 Time-out Tableside

14 30 Sec.Time-out Position – Opposite Table

15 60 sec. Time-out Position – Opp. Table

16 Time-outs When to Grant
Process Do not grant time-out if you hear request! Confirm it is head coach Confirm there is player control. Grant time-out Problem occurs - when official is near/hears coach, but ball is in PCA of other official and official near coach grants time-out before confirming player control.

17 Quirky Situations Block/charge – defender falls with minimal contact by offense player or before any contact. Rule this a block and not a technical foul. Do not “pass” on the play. Jump Ball – Jumper A1 catches ball after tapped by Jumper B1. Ruling - Team A is ruled for violation. Team B receives ball for throw-in and the initial AP Arrow is set to Team A.

18 Quirky Situations Double Whistles – can occur where PCAs converge. Look to partner before you give your signal. Either come together and discuss or defer to official who has multiple tweets. However, do not take eyes off players, when talking to each other. Throw–in – can 5 players be OB when ball becomes live for throw-in? No – if designated spot throw-in. Yes – if running endline is allowed.

19 Technical Fouls Process after Whistle
direct players to their bench area talk with your partner and review your decision and next steps communicate to BOTH coaches, if appropriate. communicate to the scorers administer technical foul free throws like all other free throws - you switch positions

20 Technical Fouls Process after Whistle
non-calling official - do not go to sleep or go after the ball. - help your partner - move players to bench area and then discuss the technical foul process. - be a good listener - help calm your partner - shoot at correct basket - add the technical foul(s) to the respective team and/or player totals. - if bench technical, then indirect technical to head coach. Tell head coach he/she must sit – then leave! Help administer free throws.
