Dalton’s Law of Partial Pressures
By Elijah Bogdan, Tristan Stewart, sharmin LeCoure jr, and Troy Davis

Partial Pressures The pressure of each gas in a mixture is what we call the partial pressure of the gas Dalton’s law states… The total pressure of a mixture of gases is equal to the sum of the partial pressure of each of the component gases Looking like…. P total = P1 + P2 + P

2 atm + 3 atm + 5 atm = 10 atm of pressure

Real life example The law is very important in the studies of the atmosphere. The atmosphere is made up of the partial pressures of nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and water vapor. These partial pressures have a big impact on the whether we experience

Sample Problem A mixture of 15 %N, 45% He and 40% O have a pressure of 850 atm. What is the partial pressure of each gas?
