2 The new Redesigned Scholastic Aptitude Assessment (SAT)
The new test is more focused on the skills and knowledge at the heart of education. It measures: What you learn in high school What you need to succeed in college

3 Test & Study Strategies
The best way to prepare for the test is to: Take challenging courses. Do your homework. Prepare for tests and quizzes. Ask and answer lots of questions.

4 SAT When: March 7th, Who: Current Juniors
Where: The MAIN gym, enter into the POOL ENTRANCE no later then 7:45 am Why: The SAT is the nation's most widely used admissions test among colleges and universities. It tests students' knowledge of subjects that are necessary for college success: reading, writing, and mathematics, and is used as part of the process for acceptance into a college or university. Earn scholarship money for exceptional scores

5 What do I need to bring to the SAT?
Bring yourself on time! 2 sharpened pencils A calculator for use on the calculator section of math Water bottle Student ID Small snack, but a small snack will be provided Bring as little as possible, bags will be locked up in cages outside of the gym Cell phones will NOT be permitted in the gym

6 Testing Environment and Electronic Policy
When you enter the testing room, be sure to disable any alarms (including your watch alarm, if you have one) and power off all cell phones and other electronic devices School staff are required to collect and hold cell phones and other prohibited electronic devices during the test administration.  Students may not discuss any portion of the test until testing is complete. Test centers are serious about security and quiet, so prohibited devices must be turned off and collected. 

7 Tips for the night before the SAT
Set an alarm! Eat a Breakfast! We will have a light breakfast option in the gym lobby Prepare your bag with the things you need the night before ( pencils, calculator, water, snack) Go to bed early, be well rested You WILL NOT be allowed to have a cell phone on your person, it must be turned off and in your bag

8 College Board approved accommodations
For students with College Board accommodations, Ms. Mode will tell you before the test date where you will report to test- it will not be in the main gym If you have questions about your accommodations please see Ms. Mode, room 230 or

9 Practice! Pick up a SAT Study Guide
Visit the College Board site for more information and take a practice test Create a College Board account, if you have not already done so Visit Khan Academy on Youtube or at College Board.com

Class dates: April 26th – May 31st Time: 4:30 – 6:30 PM June SAT assessment

Friday, March 2, Time: 12 Noon – 7:00 pm Teacher appointments: 12:00 – 5:00 pm Open teacher conferences: 5:00 – 7:00 pm Check attendance in each class Math Lab – Room 400 A-Step Tutoring LAYC afterschool tutoring

15 Attendance Update Attendance office will accept 4 days of excused absences per advisory after that you will need to provide documentation (doctor’s excuse) Excuse notes must be provided within 5 days of absence or they will not be accepted Medical excuses are always accepted.
