7 What drives this behaviour? What could change?
Reducing services and money Services / budgets fragmented Manager’s job to decide who gets what / staff implement We set thresholds and act as Gate Keeper Decisions often taken by people who can’t fully understand the consequences Specialist knowledge is important Split front/back office “Do my bit and pass on” – NO ownership of person / problem / needs of the individual Transport is separate from other functions Only contact is through a process Perception of support services working to own agenda or purpose rather than supporting the front line What could change? We understand the whole person Take ownership and resolve Understand deeper issues Only pass on where necessary Agree to provide based on what matters and is the right thing to do Right amount of understanding to help the individual from there perspective Individuals in a position to see consequences of decisions they are making We see we are here to help people Work to agenda to support services for the citizen, individual or community How do we start to achieve this?

8 Our Purpose: “Help me get to……………. ” How are we going to work
Our Purpose: “Help me get to…………….” How are we going to work? The steps that add value…. What does it take? We will learn…. We want to get a full understanding from the start…. 1) Understand Bringing in the knowledge / skills we need Anything from help individuals/groups organise themselves, develop independence, provide and find transport Involve the person 2) Develop Options 3) Agree Options We will use our team to help make decisions DO
