1 Make a Two Note Wooden Whistle 1: Cut a piece of wood 20mm thick x 30mm wide to a length of 100mm. Use a back saw and a miter box to make the cut. 2: Use the disk sander to flatten and square both ends of the blank. Use a miter gauge to make sure the ends are square 3: On one end of the board, mark where you will drill the two whistle holes. 4: Using the drill press and a 3/8 brad point drill bit, drill both holes. The holes should be different depths to create different pitches. A deeper hole will have a lower pitch where a shallow hole will have a high pitch 5: Layout a notch on what you want to be the top face of the whistle body. The notch does not need to be exactly the same as this, but this is a good guideline.

2 6: Using a backsaw and a bench hook, cut the notch out. The notch should go just a little bit into the holes that were drilled. 7: Smooth the notch with a chisel. 8: Cut two pieces of 3/8” dowel about 20mm long Use a miter box or bench hook and backsaw. 9: Create a flat face on the dowel with some sandpaper laid flat on the workbench or a block plane. 10: Push the dowel into the drilled hole with the flat face pointing towards the top face and the end of the dowel lined up with the front of the notch that you cut. 11: Test the whistle sound. Adjust the flat face on the dowel until you get a clear whistle sound. You can drill the holes a little deeper if you want a different pitch. 12: Once you have the perfect whistle sound from both holes, glue the dowel into the hole. Do not put glue on the flat part of the dowel. 13: After the glue dries, sand the dowels flush and an angle on the bottom face with the disk sander. This makes for more comfortable whistling. Be careful not to sand through into the holes. 14: Sand the whistle and finish it as you see fit. Round all corners. Drill a hole in the back for a hanging string. Carve your name into it.
