2 The x-intercept is where the line crosses the x-axis.
The y- intercept is where the line crosses the y-axis.

4 Formula: Ax+By=C

5 Example: What is the y-intercept of 2x+y=4 2(0)+y=4 y=4
The y-intercept is the y-coordinate of the point where the y-axis . Therefore y is equal to 4 because x=0.

6 Practice: Find the x and y intercepts
1. 4y-8=2x 2. 4x+y=8 3.
